The class WhatsApp group, replaced.

Relay sends every parent only their own child’s homework, notices, worksheets and progress — on the WhatsApp they already have. Teachers type like they do today; the school finally sees who read what.

The demo is the real product — message it and see what a parent gets, in about two minutes.

The problem

One group. Three sections. Two hundred parents. Zero read receipts.

The class group works — until it’s the only channel a school has. Every school knows this feed.

The class group today
  • Every parent scrolls every section’s homework to find their child’s
  • Teachers retype “Dear Parents… For Sec-A, B & C…” by hand, every single day
  • A child-specific remark has nowhere private to go
  • Notices sent twice, forms chased four times — nobody knows who read what
  • Worksheets vanish up the scroll by exam week
With Relay
  • Each family gets one private thread: “Aarav · 5A — …” on every message
  • The teacher types one plain sentence; Relay structures, labels and routes it
  • Private notes go to that child’s parents — and no one else
  • Delivered ✓ and read ✓✓ tracked per family; a weekly summary for the principal
  • Any parent replies “files” and pulls up their child’s recent worksheets
How it works

Zero new behaviour for teachers

If a teacher can send a WhatsApp message, she can run Relay. That’s the design constraint everything else obeys.

1

The teacher types it once

“Maths — fractions worksheet Q1–10 for 5A, submit tomorrow” — or attaches the worksheet photo. Same message she’d put in the group, sent to Relay instead.

2

Relay structures & she confirms

AI classifies it (homework/notice/note), tags the subject, routes it to the right section — and shows her a draft. One tap ✅ approves. Nothing ever auto-sends.

3

Every parent gets their child’s copy

Bundled into one per-child digest at 5 pm, labelled with the child’s name and class, in the parent’s language. The school sees delivered and read.

What you get

Everything the group can’t do

Relay isn’t an ERP and doesn’t want to be. It does one job — the daily school↔parent channel — properly.

🔒

Per-child privacy

Each parent receives only their own child’s homework, notices and private teacher notes — child-named on every message. No more 200 parents reading everything.

🕔

One 5 pm digest, not 7 pings

The day’s homework is bundled into a single message per child at a cutoff your school chooses. Teachers can undo before it goes out.

🤖

Teachers just type — AI does the ceremony

A teacher writes “fractions worksheet for 5A, submit tomorrow” exactly like she does today. Relay structures, labels and routes it — she confirms with one tap. Nothing sends without her ✅.

✓✓

Read receipts, finally

The school sees delivered and read per message, per family — no more sending the fee notice twice and hoping. A weekly summary lands on the principal’s WhatsApp.

📂

Worksheets that don’t scroll away

PDFs and photos deliver in-chat and stay retrievable — a parent replies “files” and picks from their child’s recent worksheets. No login, no drive links.

The Holistic Progress Card, without the extra workload

Every homework, worksheet and teacher note Relay carries becomes part of the child’s record. When report time comes, the teacher types report, picks the student, and Relay drafts a formative, NCF-aligned summary from that term’s actual classroom evidence — never invented, never auto-rated. The teacher reviews, approves, and it reaches the parent as a private note.

  • Official NCF-FS domain vocabulary, seeded from CBSE material
  • Ratings stay the teacher’s call — the AI is barred from assigning levels
  • Included in the per-student price, not an add-on module
Example — drafted from the rail, approved by the teacher

Aarav · Grade 5A — Term 1 progress summary

Cognitive: Completed the fractions unit including a 10-question worksheet; regular submission across 14 recorded Maths assignments this term.

Language & Literacy: Read chapters 3–5 in Hindi with written comprehension work; teacher noted improved handwriting on 12 Nov.

…drawn only from what was actually taught, sent and noted.

For parents

Nothing to install. Nothing to remember.

Parents don’t get another app, another password, another portal they’ll never open. Their child’s school life arrives on WhatsApp — and they can ask it things.

Scan a poster once

The school shares a class QR poster. One scan, one tap, one “Join” message — that’s the opt-in, recorded with proper consent.

One thread per family

Homework digests at 5 pm, notices as they happen, the teacher’s private notes — every message named with the child so two-kid families never mix them up.

Ask, in your language

“What’s today’s maths homework?” — in Kannada, Hindi or English — gets an answer from the child’s actual record. Reply “files” for recent worksheets. If Relay doesn’t know, it says so.

Is your child’s school on Relay? You don’t need this website — everything happens on WhatsApp.

Pricing

Simple, per student, everything included

Get in touch

Most schools collect this as part of the annual diary / communication fee — less than a single notebook per term per child. WhatsApp per-message delivery charges are included at fair use; Relay never bills teachers or parents.

Trust & compliance

Children’s data, treated like it matters

Relay was built for India’s DPDP Act from the first migration — not retrofitted for it.

Consent is a gate, not a checkbox

No parent receives anything until they opt in from their own phone. STOP works instantly and stays stopped — rejoining requires an explicit START.

Minimal data, held in India

Names, class and one phone number per guardian — that’s it. No Aadhaar, ever. Data lives in an Indian region (Mumbai) with row-level isolation per school.

A school only ever sees itself

Every query is scoped to your school at the application layer and enforced again by database row-level security.

Built for DPDP

Opt-in evidence, versioned consent wording, sticky opt-out and deletion on request are built into the rail — not bolted on.

FAQ

The questions principals actually ask

Do parents need to install anything?

No. Relay works inside the WhatsApp parents already use every day. There is no app, no login and no password for parents — that is the whole point.

We already have a school app / ERP. Why Relay?

Keep your ERP for fees and admissions — Relay doesn’t compete with it. Relay replaces the class WhatsApp group: the daily homework, notices, worksheets and per-child communication your ERP’s app can’t do because parents don’t open it. WhatsApp gets read; app notifications don’t.

Our class WhatsApp group is free. What are we paying for?

The group broadcasts everything to everyone: three sections in one feed, no read receipts, no privacy for a child-specific remark, and teachers retyping “Dear Parents…” every day. Relay pays WhatsApp for every single delivered message so each family gets a private, per-child channel — that is what the fee funds.

What about the Holistic Progress Card (HPC)?

Included, not an add-on. Relay’s daily rail quietly builds each child’s record, and teachers can generate an NEP-2020/NCF-aligned progress summary from real classroom evidence — reviewed and approved by the teacher before any parent sees it.

How do parents in Kannada- or Hindi-speaking homes use it?

A parent replies with one word (or just writes in their script) and Relay’s messages switch to Kannada or Hindi. Teachers write however they write today — their content is delivered exactly as written.

How do we start?

A pilot is free for one grade for one term: we import your roster, parents opt in by scanning a class QR poster, and your teachers message the Relay number like they message the group today. If the school doesn’t see the difference, you walk away.

See it as a parent would — right now

Message the Relay number and the demo walks you through it: add a couple of test numbers, type a homework like a teacher, watch it land per-child. Two minutes, no signup.
